We offer a variety of programs and services to support individuals and families on their spiritual journey. Established in 1920, Greater Mt Vernon has been a cornerstone of our community for over 100 years. We have a rich history of service and sharing the message of Christ with all who will listen. Our Congregation survived the great depression and so many other difficult times by the grace of our Lord.

WHAT WE DO
Beyond the walls
1. When a tornada devastated the small town of Rolling Fork, MS, Greater Mt Vernon heard the call and responded making two trips there to provide tangible support. There is no geographical restriction for our neighbors.
2. Monthly, GMV provides hot meals for the unhoused community of Chicago.
3. Tuesday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM GMV provides assistance with the LIHEAP (energy assistance), for utilities, furnaces, and weatherization for single family and two-flat buildings.
4. During the covid pandemic we were the only Chicago church providing vaccines.
